Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine treat a range of physical and emotional issues by creating a space for your mind and body to let go.
Finding time to relax and unwind is crucial to your well being. Modern-day Western society runs on a hectic, high-speed schedule. We must find time to take care of our aches, pains and stressors.
Acupuncture at ezun creates a miracle environment for your mind and body to relax and unwind.
But, how does it work?
Acupuncture works on the muscular-skeletal system to alleviate muscle tension and stimulate the nervous system. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are also specific points on the body that are clinically associated with certain physiological functions. Traditionally speaking, these points are located on "energy channels" otherwise known as meridians. The field of scientific research on acupuncture and herbal medicine is expanding in order to explain why there are such consistent, clinical results associated with these points.
How acupuncture and herbal medicine works:
1) By balancing yin and yang.
What is yin and yang? It is both within and without. Yin completes yang and yang completes yin. See my post on yin and yang for more info!
2) By activating the parasympathetic system.
Your body can be in a "fight or flight" or "rest and digest" condition. "Fight or flight" is associated with the sympathetic nervous system while "rest and digest" with the parasympathetic nervous system. It's crucial to rest and digest to find both physical and emotional relief and healing. Plus, hormones such as endorphins are released inducing an overall heightened state immediately following treatment.
3) By releasing fascia, also known as moving qi.
Have you ever had a knot in your back? In Traditional sometimes termed stagnate or stuck qi that needs to be moved. Acupuncture can help improve physical circulation as well as create better blood flow and range of movement by gently breaking a part muscle fibers from within.
As they say, motion is lotion!
Acupuncture is often referred to as "body work". That's because the treatment is a process and a commitment. We can't eat one healthy meal a week and expect our lives to rapidly change. While acupuncture at ezun is a relaxing and elevated experience, you must personally commit to repair, maintain and strengthen your overall health and wellbeing.
